About Douglas DeVore

Douglas DeVore is a landscape photographer based in Truckee, California. His internationally award-winning photography is featured in Ridgeline Gallery (which he owns with Piper Johnson) in downtown Truckee.

Prior to photography, Douglas’s video work as a director covered everything from a national children’s educational television series to a commercial for the—unfortunately not very tasty—Cluck Sandwich at Jack in the Box. He has received two Emmys for his work directing and editing a series for PBS and segment-producing for NBC affiliate shows. His short films have won awards in several countries for best film, best comedy, best sci-fi, and best hair and makeup (which, he admits, he had nothing to do with.)

Douglas is listed as inventor on several Apple Inc. patents for video and photography applications. He is confused by the difference between the terms nerd and geek, but figures he is probably one of these.

Douglas enjoys combining photography with his favorite sports of Nordic skiing, backcountry skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and kayaking. He lives with his wife Wendy—who says nobody needs that many pairs of skis!—and likes to point out that she has received one more Emmy than he has. Douglas and Wendy live with their wonderful daughter, Penelope, who will occasionally accompany Douglas on a photo shoot, but will demand 1% of all sales in return.
